What are fat dissolving injections and Aqualyx?

Fat dissolving injections do exactly as they say on the tin — they dissolve fat! Aqualyx is the name of the product Doctor Alex uses for this treatment.

Aqualyx is injected into the areas of fat causing concern (such as double chin, stomach fat, back rolls, muffin tops, side rolls, thighs (inner and outer), back of the neck, bra rolls, and more!), and dissolves the fat by breaking the fat cells down. The broken fat cells are then permanently destroyed, and simply get removed by the body naturally.
It is similar to Kybella, which is a popular brand name of fat dissolving injections used in America.

When will I see the effects from Aqualyx?

The results from the fat dissolvers start to work immediately. However, it can take several weeks for the full effect to be reach, during which there can be swelling to the treated area for several days or weeks. The number of treatment sessions required to dissolve the fat will also vary person to person, ranging from 2 — 6 treatment cycles.

How long do results from Aqualyx fat dissolving injections last for?

As long as you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, the fat cells are permanently destroyed, and therefore the results are also permanent! However, if you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle, existing fat cells will expand and take up the extra fat from your diet, so you will still gain weight.

Is it painful?

Not particularly. You may feel a pinprick sensation as the skin is injected, but otherwise the procedure is relatively pain-free. No anaesthesia is required to the skin beforehand. Aqualyx is also mixed with lidocaine (numbing liquid) to help make the injections more comfortable. After the procedure, it is normal to feel some minor aches and pains to the injected area.

How long is recovery time?

Whilst downtime is minimal, it can take several days to a few weeks for the swelling to subside. You may also bruise which can take up to two weeks to fade. Physical exercise should be avoided for about 4 to 5 days.

What are the side effects/risks?

After Aqualyx injections, you can experience swelling of treated area, bruising, minor aches and pains, redding of the skin (a few hours up to 2 days), or subcutaneous rigidification (minor) which could last 2-3 months.
