Hollow/sunken temples

What are hollow temples?

Hollowing or sinking of the temples can lead to ageing shadows on the upper face or a "skeletal" appearance. Restoring volume with dermal fillers gives a more youthful look, and also helps lift the lateral brow.
Doctor Alex performs this dermal filler treatment in both his Manchester City Centre and Sheffield clinics.

How does dermal filler (Juvederm) help?

With aging, or with weight loss, the fullness and shape of the youthful face is lost as volume to the face reduces. One of the areas this can happen in is the temple region, which is the area by the outside of your eyes. Loss of volume here can leave the face looking more "monkey-nut-shaped" and skeletal, rather than the inverted triangle, round, or oval shape associated with youthfulness. This is noticable in the temple region, but is an area often overlooked, both by clients and by other practitioners. Replacing that lost temple volume with dermal filler will help restore that youthful, fresh, and natural look. Filling of the hollow temples can also have the benefit of causing a slight lateral eyebrow lift.

When will I see the effects?

Rejuvenation results from dermal filler in the temples are seen instantly! There may be a slightly "fuller" appearance immediately after injection of the filler due to natural swelling, which resolves after a few days.

How long does the hollow temple filler treatment last for?

Filler in the temple region can last 12 to 18 months. The dermal filler Doctor Alex uses (Juvederm) is a non-permanent treatment, and can also be reversed/dissolved if needed.

Is it painful?

No. You may feel a pinprick sensation as the skin over the temple area next to your eyes is injected. Doctor Alex can also apply special numbing cream beforehand if you are worried about this.

How long is recovery time?

More or less immediate recovery — it can be performed in your lunch break! As a needle is used to inject dermal filler into the temple region, there is a chance you may get a small amount of bleeding/bruising, which usually resolves after a few days.
